Easy Easter baking: Two family favourites to make together

Easter baking doesn’t need to be complicated to feel special. For families with school-aged children, the magic is often in the mixing bowl moments – sticky fingers, chocolatey smiles and the proud presentation of something they helped create. If you’re looking for simple, crowd-pleasing ideas, these two recipes are perfect for a relaxed afternoon in the kitchen.
No-bake chocolate Easter nests
A classic for good reason, these require minimal ingredients, no oven time and plenty of opportunities for children to get involved.
Ingredients
- 200g milk chocolate
- 100g cornflakes (or crushed shredded wheat)
- 2 tbsp golden syrup
- Mini chocolate eggs
Method
- Gently melt the chocolate and golden syrup together in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water (or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring frequently).
- Pour the cornflakes into a large bowl and carefully fold through the melted chocolate until evenly coated.
- Spoon the mixture into cupcake cases arranged in a muffin tin.
- Make a small dip in the centre of each nest and add 2–3 mini eggs.
- Chill in the fridge for around 1 hour until set.
Children can help measure, stir and spoon the mixture into cases. They’ll love counting out the eggs, and taste-testing, of course!
