Easter is the perfect time for families to come together and enjoy some offline fun.

With the hustle and bustle of modern life, it’s easy to get caught up in screen time, but Easter offers a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with each other through hands-on creativity.

Crafting with your children doesn’t need to be expensive or require fancy supplies – often, you can make the best projects using items you already have around the house. Here are some simple and fun Easter craft ideas that will keep your family engaged and entertained without needing to turn to screens.

Easter egg hunt craft bags

Creating your own Easter egg hunt bags is a fantastic way to add a personal touch to this classic Easter activity. Simply take some old paper bags or brown lunch bags, and decorate them with markers, stickers, or scraps of wrapping paper. If you have any ribbons or fabric, use these to make handles or add decorative touches. This craft is a great way to involve younger children as they can colour, draw, and glue their creations to make their very own unique egg-hunting bags. Once they’re done, fill them with colourful eggs for an extra-special Easter hunt.

Toilet roll bunny ears

Before you throw away those empty toilet rolls, save a few for a fun Easter craft. By simply cutting and shaping the roll, you can create cute bunny ears that can be attached to a headband or worn as a fun costume accessory. To make your own bunny ears, start by cutting two long ovals from the top of the roll. You can paint or colour the tube in pastel shades and add fluffy cotton balls to the base of the ears for a more realistic bunny look. Add a ribbon or elastic to turn it into a wearable Easter accessory—perfect for dressing up during Easter celebrations.

Egg carton chicks

Repurpose those old egg cartons into adorable Easter chicks! All you need is an egg carton (the kind with individual sections), some yellow paint, and a few other basic materials like orange paper, glue, and scissors. Cut the carton into individual cups and paint them yellow. Once dry, add small paper beaks and feet, and use googly eyes (or draw your own) to complete the look. You can also turn these into fun Easter decorations by placing them around the house or using them to create a DIY Easter garland.

Salt dough easter ornaments

Salt dough is a fantastic material for crafting Easter ornaments that can be used to decorate your home. All you need is 1 cup of salt, 2 cups of flour, and 1 cup of water. Once you’ve mixed it together, you can roll it out and cut it into Easter-themed shapes like eggs, bunnies, and flowers. After baking and cooling, let your children paint and decorate the ornaments. These homemade decorations can be hung on the Easter tree or displayed around the house as a reminder of the fun you had crafting together.
