Smartphone use in secondary schools is one of the most debated issues in education today. The question of how to address it is complex and often contentious. At Parentkind, we believe it’s essential to amplify the voices of UK parents on this critical topic.

To better understand their perspectives, we commissioned a poll of 2,001 parents with children aged 11–15. The findings reveal:

  • 1 in 5 teenagers are disrupted daily by smartphone use in lessons.
  • 74% of parents believe social media CEOs should be held accountable for harmful content exposed to under-18s.
  • 6 in 10 parents support a social media ban for children under 16.
