Whether you have one committee member standing down or you’re all moving on, you should have a handover plan in place so new members can land on their feet. Here are the essential things to sort out and documents to share during this transition.

Before standing down

  • Recruit your successor(s) — Establish who’s leaving and start recruiting, making sure the key roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary are filled
  • Organise the AGM — If you can, support your PTA’s committee up to the next AGM by helping to organise the meeting
  • Finalise your accounts — If the Treasurer is standing down, make sure the accounts are up to date. If you have an Independent Examiner appointed, make a note of their contact details to pass on to the new committee members
Top tip!

It’s best practice to stay on the committee until your PTA’s next AGM.

The essential documents

  • Constitution
  • PTA membership by Parentkind certificate and receipt
