Our Parent Insight Survey 2015 revealed that 85% of the parents surveyed who have a child aged five to 18 in state school want a say in how their child is educated.

The findings of two recent surveys of parents in England reveal that 85% of those surveyed who have a child aged five to 18 in state school want a say in how their child is educated while only 18% felt that the Government listens to parents on what they want for their children’s education.

  • 97% of parents feel they should be consulted when big changes are proposed to how a school is run
  • 96% feel being consulted makes them feel included in their child’s education

Our methodology 

YouGov survey: Total sample size was 6,943 adults, of which 1,274 are parents of children aged 5 to 18 in state schools. Fieldwork was undertaken between 29th May — 3rd June 2015. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all English adults (aged 18+).

Parent insight survey was conducted through our Facebook and surveyed 1,350 parents (September 2015).
