24/7 Virtual Medical Care

A new member benefit that gives parent volunteers like you access to 24/7 GP and medical advice for you and your family

Helping 130,000 PTA volunteers stay on the front line.

We know how hard it is to juggle parenting, volunteering, and everything in between — especially when illness strikes at the worst time. Whether it’s your child coming down with a fever at bedtime or your own health concern in the early hours, waiting for a busy GP surgery shouldn’t be the only option.

That’s why we’re offering 24-hour GP access to Parentkind PTA volunteers. It’s our way of giving back to those who give so much.

This is about making life that little bit easier, because we believe that supporting parents who support the lives of others is one of the most important things we can do.

Who can use it?

  • Up to 15 parent volunteers per PTA (plus partners and children)

  • We recommend prioritising committee members and regular helpers

How to get started:

  1. Each volunteer that would like to access this service must register on the Parentkind website as a PTA volunteer

  2. Once registered, you’ll be able to access all the information regarding the GP service (please see full registration information in the How does it work?’ section below)

Note: We do not access or monitor any medical information. Everything stays between you and the GP provider.

Please note:

  • With an estimated 130,000 parent volunteers helping PTAs, we will be monitoring this service to ensure it can be delivered effectively and reliably

  • We may need to adjust access or pause the service in the future — but we hope that won’t be the case

Make sure you and your regular volunteers register early to ensure you have access when you need it!

How does it work?

This benefit is exclusive to PTAs who have a paid membership with Parentkind.

The benefit is available to 15 PTA volunteers per PTA, plus their partners and children up to the age of 23. We recommend that you prioritise your committee and your most supportive volunteers.

Your supportive volunteers will tend to be those who volunteer but don’t wish to take on a formal role or join the committee. Those committee members and volunteers accessing the Virtual Medical Care service will need to be registered with Parentkind.

It is also your PTA’s responsibility to make sure all contact details are kept up to date. Your PTA Membership Administrators (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary) can add and remove contacts from the My Account section of the Parentkind website.

No, just your committee and your supportive volunteers (plus partners and children up to the age of 23) who are registered with Parentkind. Please refrain from divulging the policy number or providing access details to anyone who should not have access to the service.

If you are already registered with Parentkind:

  • You will need to log in to‘Your PTA Expert’ at the top right hand corner of the Parentkind website – the Log in/Register button
  • Select My Organisation
  • Download the PTA Insurance Personal Accident Policy – this contains the policy number that you will need to access the service.
  • Details of how to contact Virtual Medical Care are included in the document Lifeline Plus’, which can be downloaded

For any new committee members or supportive volunteers who wish to access this service, they must be registered with Parentkind.

For those not yet registered with Parentkind:

Your PTA should not become members of Parentkind if your sole reason for doing so is so that you can take advantage of the Virtual Medical Care service. Parentkind provides a broad range of PTA member benefits. When considering PTA membership you should consider all of these benefits and make sure it is what is needed by the PTA and is in accordance with you PTA’s constitution.

No, the service is provided completely confidentially. Parentkind may receive anonymous analytical data, such as volume of registrations, calls etc.

The service is available to you, your partner and your children (up to the age of 23).

You can continue to use the service if you remain as a supportive volunteer. However, if you no longer provide support to the PTA, you should discontinue use of the service.

Virtual Medical Care is only available to commitee members and supportive volunteers while your PTA is in membership.

The Virtual Medical Care service is available to supportive volunteers as well as trustees.

Parentkind may terminate, amend or withdraw this service without providing any notice to any parties.
