Parentkind appoints Alex Peace-Gadsby as new Chair of Trustees

Alex brings to the role extensive experience of governance, having served both as a Chair and Trustee within large and small charities. Positions include serving as a Trustee of sovereign charity Youth United Foundation, a Trustee of The Inspire and Achieve Foundation and as Chair of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. Prior to becoming Chair of Parentkind, Alex also volunteered as Chief Commissioner of England for The Scouts.
New Parentkind Chair Alex Peace-Gadsby is an entrepreneurial business leader with extensive experience of driving forward business strategies across both corporate and charitable sectors. Her career has already led to considerable honours and awards, including an OBE in 2019 for Services to Entrepreneurship and the Community in Newark. Among her current roles are Founder and Director of Fylo Enterprises Limited, a digital start-up enterprise, and an investor in Adelan Limited, a ‘clean tech’ company. She was formerly the owner and Director of Musto Limited, the world’s leading sailing clothing brand.
On becoming the new Parentkind Chair of Trustees, Alex Peace-Gadsby says, “I am excited to join the team and have already been incredibly impressed by the commitment and capability of staff and Trustees. Throughout my career and volunteer work, I have always been deeply committed to ensuring that young people have the greatest opportunity to succeed. That includes a passionate belief in the benefit and necessity of parental participation in children’s learning to help them achieve their full potential. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a member of the PTA at my child’s junior school, and I currently serve as a governor in a school for young people with a range of special educational needs. These positions have afforded me a broad, practical understanding of the education system, how parents fit into it, and what more can be done to champion the parenting role.”
John Jolly, the CEO of Parentkind, adds, “We are delighted to warmly welcome somebody of Alex Peace-Gadsby’s calibre, foresight and drive to the influential role of Chair. Her commitment to promoting parental participation in education is already evident in the impressive body of work she has achieved to date. Joining Parentkind’s Board of Trustees as Chair will provide her with every opportunity to further champion the importance of parents in children’s learning. My staff and I look forward to working with Alex and taking Parentkind from strength to strength together.”
