DONCASTER OPPORTUNITY AREA APPOINTS PARENTKIND TO GET MUMS AND DADS ENGAGED IN CHILDREN’S EDUCATION
We have been been awarded a contract by Doncaster Opportunity Area to deliver a project to increase parental engagement in schools in an effort to reduce absenteeism and improve academic performance. The project will run throughout the academic year from September 2019 to July 2020.
Following a competitive pitch, we will recruit a minimum of 20 local primary and secondary schools to take part in the innovative project to help schools get more mums and dads involved in their child’s learning.
Using our ‘Blueprint for parent-friendly schools’ — a framework designed to guide schools on how to encourage all parents to play a positive and active role in education — we will undertake an initial audit with each school and develop practical strategies to help overcome barriers to positive participation while demonstrating the different ways in which parents and carers can get involved.
Doncaster Opportunity Area acknowledges absenteeism, exclusions and educational attainment need addressing and recognises the value of parental engagement as a means to combat this growing problem.
