Join the army of schools that are becoming Sun Safe Schools accredited
After a decade of lobbying and consultations, we are so proud that sun safety education is finally on the PSHE Curriculum — and even prouder to already have in place a robust, national solution, already used and LOVED by thousands of schools nationwide.
Our new website features lots of new, bespoke educational resources to introduce sun-safe messaging to reception-age children and develop their knowledge of UV and the importance of sun safety throughout primary education.
To gain their annual Sun Safe Schools Accreditation, schools must complete a four-step process, providing evidence/feedback, following completion of each step. Extensive resources have been provided to help schools achieve each step effectively and efficiently, with maximum impact and confidence and with minimum strain on valuable time and resources.
We have also developed a comprehensive Year 6 specific leavers’ programme and graduation certificate to ensure children leave primary education with a clear understanding of:
- The benefits and dangers of solar UVR
- The skin’s structure and how UV affects different skin types and the damage it can cause to our skin and eyes
- The UV Index and how to prevent skin cancer from developing in later life
The Sun Safe Schools Accreditation programme has also been recognised by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) as Best Practice!
