Parentkind asked 2,000 UK parents of children in school (aged 4 — 18) questions about their reading habits and those of their children. The polling was conducted by Censuswide between 8th and 16th December, and shows:

  • 1 in 5 children (20%) read for fun daily
  • 1 in 10 (9%) children never read for fun
  • More than a quarter (28%) of parents have avoided reading with or to their children because they worry about their own reading ability.
