In March 2022, 6843 parents and carers gave us their thoughts on the idea of an extended school day, and possible changes to the school year in Wales. This research was in collaboration with Child Poverty Action Group.
Most parents (56%) do not want the school day compulsorily extended to give children an extra half-hour of academic catch-up, a survey of 888 parents in collaboration with Child Poverty Action Group has found, but there is strong support (65%) for more extra-curricular activities out-of-school hours.
