Ridgeway C of E Primary School in Wantage, Oxfordshire is a small village school with only 90 children on its role. Even so, their PTA took the plunge and registered for the Big PTA Summer Raffle 2021. New to the raffle, they have made it a roaring success and are one of the leading PTAs, selling over £600 worth of tickets in just three days.
Their Chairperson, Jennifer Casey, said that they had tried many different things to raise money during lockdown but have struggled to raise substantial funds. The Big PTA Summer Raffle 2021 was something different and with 12 chances of winning £5,000 it gave something back to the parents instead of just donating money.
To promote the raffle, Jennifer has used several channels to engage both the school and the wider community. Most of the parents are members of a parents’ Whatsapp group and Jennifer posts regular updates letting parents know how many tickets have been purchased and encouraging new ticket sales. Information has also gone out on Classlist and their supportive Headteacher has included the Big PTA Summer Raffle 2021 in the school newsletter.
The PTA has also included the local community, by posting on the village Facebook group. Jennifer said she is often stopped by people in the village to tell her that they have bought their tickets. Everyone has been encouraged to share with friends and family, with the PTA members sharing on their personal Facebook pages.
Funds raised during lockdown have been spent on many projects to enhance the children’s academic and holistic wellbeing including virtual Street Dance classes to help the children with their mental wellbeing. This will continue with the funds raised through the Big PTA Summer Raffle 2021 used to enhance the outside garden area.
We think that Ridgeway C of E Primary School PTA has achieved great results in just three days with their promotion and community support and wish them the best of luck with their Big PTA Summer Raffle 2021.
