There is a well-evidenced link between parental participation in a child’s education and academic attainment. However, we know that sometimes it is hard to build that bridge between school and home.
As a result, we have developed the Blueprint for Parent-Friendly Schools, an easy-to-use, free framework that can help set your school on the path to making long-lasting improvements in parental participation.

What parents tell us and why the Government needs to listen
Our six-point plan is based on what parents across the UK told us is important to them.
It is their manifesto for change. To make sure the policy recommendations in this manifesto represent the voice of parents, we have used data from The National Parent Survey – Britain’s biggest parent poll — and a special General Election parent poll conducted by WeThink in early 2024.
National Parent Survey
The largest survey of its kind, the National Parent Survey provides educators and policy makers, at every level of government, with unique insight into the views of parents.
Parentkind commissioned YouGov to survey 5,126 parents across the UK in June 2023 because research shows that parents who are listened to and supported help their children succeed in their education.This survey is full of data that should make us all sit up and think again about the barriers preventing children from succeeding in education and how we support parents.
Our hope is that the National Parent Survey will play an important part in ensuring that the voice of parents is heard.
