National PTA Awards 2023 winners announced

25 May 2023
National PTA Week (15th – 19th May 2023) celebrated parent groups in schools’ achievements.

Parentkind has announced the winners of the National PTA Awards 2023, recognising PTAs whose activities have made a significant difference to their schools and students.

Parentkind’s most recent Annual Return Survey of PTAs in membership revealed that:

  • PTAs collectively raised an estimated £99 million for schools last year
  • PTAs raised an average of £7,814 for their schools in the last financial year
  • It’s estimated that PTA committee members collectively volunteered nearly four million hours of their time to improve the educational experiences of children last year.

The National PTA Awards were open to all PTAs, not just those in Parentkind membership. This was to acknowledge that PTAs in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (including those not in Parentkind membership) have collectively raised around £1.25 billion for schools in the last decade. Their fundraising activities represent around 3% of all charitable donations. With so many ways in which PTAs make vital contributions to the life of their school, the competition judges were delighted to go through so many awe-inspiring entries. After much deliberation, the National PTA Awards 2023 winners are announced as:

Parentkind’s Chief Executive Jason Elsom said:

What an incredible week it’s been! Many of our PTAs tell us about the funds they raise when they fill out surveys. But National PTA Week, which culminates in the National PTA Awards, is an invaluable opportunity to meet so many awe-inspiring parents. They are the often-unsung volunteers who give up their time and channel their skills into improving the educational experiences of children at their school. National PTA Week brings PTAs together from across the UK to celebrate all their incredible achievements.

I warmly congratulate every one of our National PTA Week Award 2023 winners, runners-up and nominees, who prove the positive impact of parent volunteers in schools with every project they lovingly undertake. A special mention goes to our newly-crowned UK PTA of the Year 2023, Clowne Infant and Nursery School PTA in Derbyshire. They reacted to the cost-of-living crisis through their innovative sponsored events, which enabled families who are facing financial hardship to attend. They told us that their initiative built up trust with the parent community as parents and children who might otherwise have missed out were included. The celebratory National PTA Week has once again demonstrated the importance of every school benefitting from a PTA and from its own dedicated group of parent volunteers.”
