Parentkind's response to APPG for Education that asked: how well do schools prepare young people for their future careers?

In April 2016, the Westminster All-Party Parliamentary Group for Education (APPG for Education) launched an inquiry calling for evidence on the subject, "Do schools prepare young people for their future careers?"

Parentkind, which welcomed the inquiry, has prepared a response which says that supporting young people facing career options is an under-developed area.  After engaging with our members about the inquiry on Facebook, we gathered a range of responses. Whilst some said they would not welcome further additions to the education system away from its focus on academia, we heard from other members who have already worked with schools to introduce measures to assist pupils in making the transition from the classroom to the workplace.
