Merry Christmas from all at Parentkind

16/12/19

We round the year off reflecting on the amazing work of our members. Parentkind PTAs volunteered a staggering 3.65 million hours last year. Their phenomenal effort resulted in £108 million raised that went directly in to supporting schools and helping to provide the best educational experiences for the benefit of all children.

We’ve loved hearing from PTAs, Parent Councils and schools about their successes. How positive Parental Engagement in all its forms has had a transformational effect on the schools and the communities they serve.

Below are just a few of the wonderful stories they’ve shared with us.

“It’s amazing what you can achieve with the support of the whole school community. To think that in less than 12 months we managed to raise almost £40k to fund our fantastic library bus is incredible!” Read more...

"As a mechanical engineer by profession, when a request came through to the PTA asking whether any parents would be able to support Year 5’s latest topic – learning all about space – Richard knew it was something he’d be able to help with." Read more...

Richard Brigg, Parent, Moorside Primary School

“The support and feedback was really positive; the dads who came along wanted to support their children’s school but didn’t want the formality of meetings, so it gave them another way of helping whilst socialising with other parents.” Read more...

Gareth Esplin, co-founder of the ‘Dads’ Club’, Llangan Primary, Wales.

“It was a huge success and we’ve had lovely comments about how professional and well organised it was. What was also great was the amount of engagement we had with the local community; the number of posts on social media was incredible and filtered through to the wider community too, which is really positive for the school.” Read more...

Maggie Flannigan, PTA Chair, Friends of Three Rivers

"One of the first initiatives that Lisa got off the ground was a school fete – something that hadn’t happened for some years. “The fete’s success really inspired me and I spoke to the leadership team about reinstating the school PTA as a means to engage with the wider parental community.” Read more...

Lisa Littlewood, Teacher, Edgar Stammers Primary Academy

“We know that parents often feel less involved in school life after their children move on from primary school. We felt there would be numerous benefits if we could bridge that gap and include parents in their children’s learning experiences at secondary school.” Read more...
