Our consultation on Parent-Friendly Schools is now open!

As you know Parentkind is a charity that aims to help and encourage all the ways that parents can take a positive role in their child’s school life and education. So, whether that is helping parents to take part in their PTA, having their voice heard in school decisions or supporting their child’s learning, Parentkind keeps parents in the public eye and provides brilliant resources for all mums, dads and carers as well as our fantastic parent council and PTA members and schools themselves. We know that, however big or small, this partnership between homes and schools can make a massive difference to how well a child does.

Like you, we know that when it comes to helping parents to get involved, one-size does not fit all! Also sadly too many schools fail to harness the parent-power at their disposal which means children continue to miss out. So we have pulled together, in this consultation report, all the knowledge we have gained through working with parents, PTAs and educators to suggest a model that schools can follow to make sure they give all kinds of parents the opportunity to play an active role.

What we want to do now is put the flesh on the bones and this is where we need your help!

We would be very grateful if you could:
  • Drop us a line to [email protected] telling us what you think of the blueprint. Do you like it? Have we missed anything?
  • Tell us about great and poor practice at your school and how schools could change for the better.
  • Keep on the look out to get involved with discussions on the Parentkind Facebook pages and Twitter feed and also to take part in the parent and member focus groups we will be running during the consultation period.

This consultation will close on 31st October 2019 – please do let us know what you think by then either via email, or on this form.

We will reflect your responses in our final report and from 2020 will work with schools to create and test practical tools and resources to make parent-friendly schools a reality right across the UK.
