Jayne Thompson, Programmes Manager NI

We understand the financial constraints on schools and the additional pressures that PTAs are feeling to fundraise more. With over 60 years' experience supporting PTAs we know the richness a thriving PTA can offer a school and we don't want PTAs to flounder under the growing pressures. Our Titanic and Parentkind NI conference, Maximising the Impact of your PTA, is a unique opportunity for PTAs spend a day learning from governance, fundraising and parent engagement experts.

The morning programme will help your PTA work smarter, not harder.
Charity registration is not something PTAs in NI can continue to ignore. We understand some PTAs are nervous of the registration process, but we have the resources prepared for you to help eliminate the stresses. On the day Parentkind and the Charity Commission are offering Advice Clinics for all members on this topic. Charity registration is compulsory, and it also is the gateway to enabling your PTA to access additional income streams through grants, Gift Aid and much more. Plus, fundraising experts Neil Irwin from niFundraising will discuss Gift Aid, and Caroline Hanna from Big Lottery will outline available grants for PTAs.

The afternoon programme focuses on parent engagement and how we as parents can support our children’s learning and their schools.
As parents we are our children’s primary educators, we are the people that will instill the value of education in our children and we provide the additional support at home that has a significant impact on each child’s educational outcomes.  Experts in the field of parental engagement will talk us through the impact parents make, offering practical ways we can support our children. We will also hear from a school principal who places parental engagement at the heart of her school, and the work they undertake together to enable every child to achieve their academic potential.

Your chance to ask the experts.
All the panel sessions are designed to be interactive, so you will have your chance to ask questions directed at specific speakers. For bigger enquiries or if you'd like to speak about an issue directly related to your PTA, most of our morning speakers will be running advice clinics during lunch.
