Christmas fairs are one of the most successful events of the year for our PTA members, but have you ever thought about doing something a bit different?
Sticking with the fun and festive theme, here are a few other ideas from the Parentkind team and our inspiring PTA Facebook community:
Christmas day (not the real one!)
The whole school are invited to a Christmas themed day full of fun; it’s basically a big party. Some PTAs have included different activities rotated throughout the day followed by either a Christmas lunch or treat like pizza. You could even tie it in with a Christmas jumper day.
Activities could include: crafts to take home, charades, pass the bauble, pin the nose on the snowman, makign reindeer food, Christmas bingo and musical chairs.
Christmas movie night
Pair our tips on running a film night with a festive film choice and some cosy Christmas decor and you've got yourself a great event for the Winter. Download our new poster for a Christmas movie night.
Stories with Santa
Snuggle up for festive storytelling with Santa, another great one for the younger ones. Meet Santa and his elves for a Christmas tale, and maybe even a bit of a sing-along to get everyone in the spirit. Download our new poster for Stories with Santa.
Breakfast with Santa
A character breakfast with the man himself. Get some volunteers along to be elves and help entertain the kids. They’ll enjoy breakfast and some fun activities, like decorating Christmas biscuits, while they wait their turn to meet Santa and receive a present.
There’s a whole host of Christmas crafts you could combine to put on a fun and creative afternoon. Include things that kids can take home too. Try reindeer hats, Christmas greeting cards, wreath making, painting baubles, making reindeer food, and snowmen in a jar. For more ideas, see our Pinterest board.
Invite parents and the community along to traditional afternoon or evening of Christmas carols, with kids singing in festive costumes and some delicious drinks and nibbles for after. As an extra fundraising opportunity you could add a Christmas raffle to the event and ask people if they would like to buy tickets as they arrive.
A festive market
Get together a good selection of stalls in the run up to Christmas and let your local community know it’s the place to go for their Christmas gift shopping. Why not add on some hot refreshments to bring in some extra fundraising too?
