I'd like to get local businesses more involved in supporting our PTA but don't know where to start

Local businesses in your area will receive many calls on their resources, so it is important to approach them in a way that gets your PTA noticed and ultimately encourages them to support your activities on a regular basis. See our guide to working with local businesses for more information.

Do we need to be a registered charity to apply for gift aid?

No, you don’t need to be registered with the Charity Commission unless your gross income is over £5,000. All you need to do is register as a charity cause with HMRC. See our Gift Aid infosheet for more information

The PTA is fundraising for a major playground redevelopment. What's the best way to raise significant funds?

Applying for money from grants or foundations can often bring in significant money for specific projects but you’ll need to do some research to match your needs with that of the grant or foundation objectives for giving money. PTA members also have free access to the trust funding database and a half price subscription offer from Grants4schools - see our infosheet on grant opportunities for more information
