Sydenham School – Black History Month event

Key summary

‘We really wanted to share our Black History Month event with you. Sydenham School is a diverse London comprehensive secondary school for girls, this will be the second year we have hosted a Black History Month event, and what an event it is…'

'We have a diverse PTA steering group for the event and our BAME members told us they did not just want an event talking about the distant past, but something that spoke to the amazing achievements of BAME communities now.

We can’t believe the line-up, we are delighted that singer-songwriter Camille Purcell known as Kamille will be joining us and Jen Reid will be zooming in from Bristol to talk about the day that changed her life and how she became, briefly, the replacement statue for Colston when his sculpture was removed by BLM activists. And with 8 other inspiring and diverse speakers of African/Caribbean heritage zooming in to inspire students, teachers, families and the wider community.'

The event has already raised over £1,000 and we expect to hit our target of £2,000 when ticket sales close on the 14th.
